Internet of Things (IoT): objects, goods, sensors, devices connected to the internet is one of the major drivers of development in recent years and those to come.

The evolution of the Internet has extended to objects and devices the possibility to interact with the network and transfer data and information.

Connected to IoT we have the paradigm of Industry 4.0, the process that is leading industrial production to be totally automated and interconnected.

Most of the technologies behind IoT and Industry 4.0 are related to wireless/radio devices.

The certification of these products has a rather complex and varied process depending on the reference market.

In Europe for the CE Marking of products with radio modules, such as GSM/3G/LTE/5G modules, WI-FI, BLE, Sigfox, is in force Directive RED 2014/53/EU.

For non-EU countries a specific certification is required, often obtainable with RED or FCC tests. In other states local laboratory tests are required.

Inlab offers verification of the essential requirements of RED such as:

  • Safety Requirements (Art. 3.1a): Protection of the health and safety of the end user and any other person, based on the protection requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.

  • EMC requirements (Art. 3.1b) An adequate level of Electromagnetic Compatibility according to EMC Directive 2014/30/EU

  •  Radio requirements (Art. 3.2) Effective use of radio spectrum/orbital resources to avoid harmful interference.

In addition, with the involvement of the Notified Body we can issue the EU Type Examination Certificate based on the technical documentation provided by the customer.

Thanks to Global Market Access services we can allow you to export your products with wireless modules in more than 180 countries.
